The characterization and measurement of the housing deficit constitutes an important tool to diagnose the situation and conditions of the habitat of households, as well as to develop and implement housing programs or projects, general and/or specific urban and financial solutions and instruments, to meet the needs of access to decent housing. This notebook briefly describes the housing deficit, its main components and updates the estimates of the housing deficit previously published by Uniapravi in ​​Latin American and Caribbean countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
